Rita Joan Smith, age 82, of Columbus, passed away on July 21, 2017. She was born in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Roscoe and Ruby (Elliott) Stevers. She worked as a nurse at The Ohio State University Hospital until she started her family. Rita was always a loving caregiver and put her family first. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Gary Smith. She is survived by her sons, Eric (Romaine) Smith and Stephen Smith; and her grandchildren Erica and Ian. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 7pm at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43232. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Red Cross, 995 East Broad St, Columbus, Ohio 43205.
