Robert Mason Ashbrook

Robert M. Ashbrook, age 76, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019. He was born on February 6, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Eugene M. Ashbrook and Martha (Kaufman) Lewis. Bob was a 1960 graduate of North High School where he was a member of the Polar Bear Club. He retired from Greyhound Busline and then worked as an independent contractor. Bob was proud of his 36 years of sobriety and was a strong advocate of Alcoholic Anonymous. He enjoyed painting, gardening, cooking and loved his dog Gracie. Bob cherished his lifelong friendships with Jim Montgomery and Bob Pember. He is survived by his children, Elaine (Rick) Robertson, Diane Tarr, and Jennifer (Sam) Matchett; mother of children, Joey Ashbrook; grandchildren, Danielle, Natalie and Megan Robertson, Lindsay, Samantha, Caitlin and Jessica Tarr, James, Paul and Sam Matchett. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until time of service. Interment at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Golden Endings Golden Retriever Rescue Center, 1043 Elmwood Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212 or charity of your choice.
