First off the Winfreysl's want to send condolences to the family & praying for peace & comfort at this time. 
I am so grateful i got to see & hug Mr. Basinger one more time at my good friend, his daughter Erica's wedding. There was not a track meet or bball game he missed. Always up in the stands, all of us like one big family. Very supportive and upstanding man. I will surely miss him.

My parents and Bob's parents were brothers and sisters.  So I grew up practically in two families.  The Basingers got together for all  holidays, vacations and practically every weekend.  That closeness was very special.  As I look at Bob's smile (we called him Robbie until he forbid us to) i remember him as fun loving, always ready to tell a joke or story.  He was much like his father our Uncle Bob. I was particularly impressed with the passion he had for the care of the disabled.  He was a good man and very much loved by all who knew him.
Recently my brother Don was having serious health problems.  Bob came to visit him by car all the way from Ohio to Massachusetts and then to Maine when Don died.  He came even when it was clear he was having health problems of his own.  Thanks to Jennifer.
I am sorry I cannot be with you these days but send you much love. May all the memories you have keep him alive in your hearts forever.

Vicky, Erica, Jenny, Bobby and Family - I'm so sorry for your loss. Bob was such a great man and father. I will always remember how supportive he was - going to every basketball, Track and Field meet and football games! He made Erica and me homemade crepes when I was in high school after numerous sleepovers. He always made me feel welcome in his home and part of the family! He even came to our Name That Tune trivia night a few years ago. He wasn't as good as Erica but I could tell where she got it from! He will be missed. Love you all! Krista Shirey

Bob was a first cousin of my father Donald. Although the frequency of visits was limited due to distance, their relationship was strong. They shared a good hearted humor,  along with staunch opinions and a strong work ethic. We were fortunate to be raised as part of the Basinger clan. These pictures were taken when Bob visited Dad, about a month before he passed, and when Bob returned for his service That visit meant the world to my dad (and us) and we knew it was not an easy trip for Bob. I am picturing the joyous reunion above for Bob with his brothers, parents and the entire Basinger/Paradis clan.

I will always remember the fun holidays shared with Bob,  how Bob enjoyed the kids and more often than not. ...had invited and brought along one or two of his beloved clients to share in the fun. ...Trick or treating, Easter egg hunts, big Thanksgiving dinners. ..always treating everyone as family. Much love and such fond memories.

Where to begin with a favorite memory? Mr. Basinger opened up his home to me as a child where Erica and spent countless hours playing and getting into a little trouble. He was always very accommodating, letting me stay for dinner, meet new friends and have sleepovers with Erica. The best dinners were when he would grill and to this day I still like burnt hotdogs. 
     One of his greatest attributes that will have a lasting affect for me was Mr. Basinger's devotion to those with special needs. Teaching us from a very young age that people with differences have so much to offer us. He even let me work for him, which is an experience which I will be forever be grateful.  
     The sleepovers with Erica were the best. Our favorite stories (which at the time we thought he made up and made him that much cooler) were the G rated Stephen King stories. Nobody was a better raconteur when it came to telling "The Library Policeman". As there are so many wonderful memories I think my favorite would be the mornings after a sleepover with Erica and he would make us the most delicious crepes and to this day I can not replicate. He was always so goofy in those mornings making us giggle. Those mornings will forever be remembered as a happy and peaceful place.
     My thoughts and prayers are with the Basinger family and all of those who have had the chance to make a favorite memory.
