Robert Lee Mickens

Robert Lee Mickens, 70, of Columbus, Ohio departed his life at home, January 17, 2025, surrounded by family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Robert Lee Mickens was born April 26, 1954, to Marion Suretha (Boyd) Frazier and Raymond Earl Mickens in Columbus, Ohio. Robert, the youngest of 8 children, retired from Columbus City Schools after 30+ years of service.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Denise Mickens; children, Andre Marshall (GA), Robert Mickens Jr., Teonna Mickens, Shawaia Milton, Tifany Buins-Brown; step-children, Kier (Lolita) Carpenter, Robert "Bobby" (Sasha) Carpenter, Eddie (Ashley) Carpenter, Tiawni (Rashawn) Dickerson, and a host of amazing and loving grandchildren. Robert is also survived by his siblings, Mary (Pete) McElroy, Beverly Burton (GA), Raymond (Robin) Mickens, Ronald (Maureen) Mickens, John Mickens and sisters-in-law, Margaret Mickens, Yvonne (William "Bamo") Smallwood, Tonia (Jackie) Grant; brother-in law, Maurice (Marciela) Nimmons, and a host of relatives, friends, and those to whom he was a father figure.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Mickens, Charles (Chuck) Frazier, and Marian Frazier; step-son, Anthony Jones II; brothers, Zedock Mickens and Ralph Mickens; sister-in-law, Wendy Mickens; and mother-in-law, Josie Louse Nimmons (Lester).
