Robert K. Mullins, age 92, of Upper Arlington, entered into eternal rest on July 1, 2010. He was born on December 13, 1917 to the late James Riley and Addie Elizabeth Mullins in Straight Creek, Kentucky. He is also preceded in death by brother, Paul Mullins and sister, Ruth Rector. He was a graduate from Pineville High School and was an alumnus of Franklin University. Robert retired from Battelle Memorial Institute after 47 ½ years of service in Finance and Accounting. Bob was one of the pioneers at Battelle and was recognized at Battelle’s 50th anniversary with a plaque, now located at the front entrance, recognizing members who joined Battelle during its first decade. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army in WWII, serving in the Philippines and Japan. Bob is a 55 year member of Riverside United Methodist Church, having served in various capacities. He is also a 60 year member of York Lodge # 563, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Shrine, member of Brutal Brothers, Aladdin Ambassador Club, Royal Order of Jesters, and Past Patron of Beacon Chapter 593 OES (R.T. King). He is survived by loving wife of 70 years, Betty; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Maxwell of Columbus; Marion Hurst of Jupiter, FL and Florence Gorey of Long Beach, CA; nieces, Betty Jo Heywood of Hixson, TN, Carol (Bob) Ylitalo, Deborah Balliet of Las Vagas, NV, Cinda (David) Baldini of Colorado; nephews, Mike (Deborah) Maxwell and Bruce Hanawalt of Colorado and numerous great nieces and nephews. He will be remembered as a true gentleman with a sense of humor, wit and wisdom. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 5, 2010 from 4-8pm with a Masonic service at 7:30pm at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221; where funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10am. Reverend David Griebner officiating. Entombment to follow at Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, 2701 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221.
