

Roger A. Evans, 60, of South Bloomfield, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at his residence. He was born on September 16, 1952 in Berger Hospital, Circleville, the son of Lloyd David and Helen L. (Riffel) Evans.
Roger was a 1970 graduate of Logan Elm High School and attended The Ohio State University for two years. He left college to begin farming both crops and livestock. He was a member of the Pickaway Co. Pork Council, National Corn Growers and was a longtime seed dealer for LG Seeds, traveling to Germany, Costa Rica and various other countries during his time with them. Roger enjoyed hunting, especially deer, and was a member of the Ohio Big Bucks and Pheasants Forever. He was a huge OSU Football and Basketball fan and also was a Bengals fan.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, L. David. He is survived by his mother, Helen R. Evans; son, Bart (Brittany) Evans of Hillsboro; daughter, Julie Thompson of Ashville; grandsons, Samuel and Jack Thompson; granddaughter, Grace Evans; brothers, James David (Emily) Evans of Hillsboro and Philip (Nancy) Evans of Circleville; sister, Mary Beth (Thomas D.) Anderson of Chardon; several nieces, nephews and many, many good friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Celebrant Mark Dettmer officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Berger Hospice, 1170 N. Court St., Circleville, OH 43113 or Hands for Disabled, 210 Lancaster Pike, Circleville. Special thanks to Kathy, Heather and Chris for all their loving and compassionate care of Roger during these past four years.
