

Roger Warren Mitchell, 88, a lifelong resident of Columbus, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012. He was born September 10, 1923 in Columbus to the late Charles A. and Helen (Colwell) Mitchell. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII and participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He was an active resident of Oakleaf Community Village.
He loved God, his country and his family and was well respected by community and friends. He was a fifty year member of St. James the Less Catholic Church and enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and the OSU Buckeyes. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Margie to whom he was married for fifty-six years, grandson Michael Wellman, three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his beloved companion Mae Barber, seven children: Karen (Fred) Mahle, Barbara (Gerald) Wears, Dennis (Marya) Mitchell, Patricia (Kirk) Smith, Kathleen (Steve) Wellman, Kevin (Robin) Mitchell and Maureen (Don) Howe, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1652 Oakland Park with interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
