Surrounded by his family, Ronald F Day, age 77 of Reynoldsburg, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2017. Ron was born on July 30, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert and Mary (née Hasbrook). Married to Joyce (née DeVore) November 24, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio. He worked for Aero Draperies for 20 years, ran Day Custom Draperies for 15 years, owned and operated the Gahanna Grill for 25 years, and was a horse aficionado. Ron is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Richard, and sister-in-law Mary Beth Onorato. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Joyce, three sons Marc (Kathleen), Tyler (Meghan Ralston), and Bart (Emiley Steen), his two sisters Diane (Dave Pritchard) and Debra (Chris Bodish), brother, Jeffrey, sister-in-law Sandy Bradshaw. He was Big Daddy to his four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Grace, James, and John. Also survived by many much loved nieces and nephews, cousins, the Hasbrooks, and friends. Ron befriended many while growing up on Whittier St, attending Corpus Christi, Aquinas College High School and Ohio State University. Life was a complicated balance of sales appointments, busy nights working with his family in the kitchen of the Grill or doing PR at the bar, swimming in his pool, forced marches through Blacklick Woods, and spending time with family and friends. He had a gift for shining a light on any situation, brightening the joy, lessening the pain and always adding a laugh. Although everyone had a Ron Day story, he seemed to tell them best. Visitation will be Thursday, September 21 from 5-8 pm at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. Mass of Christian burial will be held on September 22 at 11 am at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel located on the grounds of St Joseph Cemetery with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High St. Columbus, OH 43214.
