He was born on July 15, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, as the first of John and Jean (Jendrzejewski) Mlicki's three children. Since his childhood, Ron knew he wanted to be an artist. He attended the Cooper School of Art in Cleveland on an art scholarship and then moved to Columbus, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from The Ohio State University while working evenings.
He started his own business, Mlicki Design, shortly thereafter. It was there that he met his beloved wife of 56 years, Karen, when he walked into the advertising agency where she worked. Together, they built a thriving business and a beautiful life. They traveled the world from Europe to China and parts beyond. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Ron was devoted to his family. In his retirement, Ron returned to his roots as an oil painter and watercolorist. His work was shown in galleries and museums and won numerous awards.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelley Mlicki; his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Marisa Mlicki; his four grandchildren, Caliope, Luca, Aleksy, and Marco Mlicki; his sister, Madeline Morgan; his brother, Kenneth Mlicki; and his many nieces and nephews. His love for his family and our love for him will be held deeply in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
A celebration of life will be held at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday, April 12, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.
Please share your condolences, memories, and kindness with Ron's family.
