Rose "Rosie" Marie Motil, age 64, of Westerville, OH went straight to heaven on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from The Kobacker House with her loving family by her side. Rose was born on October 6, 1953 to the most wonderful parents, the late John S. Motil and Frances L. (Eagle) Motil. Rosie was a devoted and loving daughter, sister and friend. Her golden rule was to honor your mother and father, care for the sick and elderly and cheer for the underdog (a loyal Cleveland Brown's fan). She was an artist with God given talents of writing poetry, oil painting, wood carving, piano playing, gardening, fishing, loved animals and most of all caring for the sick and elderly. Rosie had a natural ability to play requested songs on the piano without sheet music. It came natural to her. Her artwork was captivating and emotionally touching. Her presence and the warmth of her smile could illuminate a whole room. She brought laughter, kindness and importance to every person she met when they needed it most. In addition to Rosie's caring nature, she had an ornery sense of humor. Rosie was a graduate of Bishop Watterson High School (BWHS). In the Motil tradition Rosie was exceptionally athletic, playing semi-professional softball and quarterbacked Columbus's first women's professional football team the Columbus Pacesetters in the mid 1970's. Rosie played volleyball, basketball and softball at BWHS and as a freshman she played on the varsity basketball team. During her four years on the varsity basketball team she won MVP honors three times and served as either the Captain or co-captain. All the while she maintained a B+ average. Our brother Patrick remembers that he often picked Rosie ahead of a lot of the boys in the neighborhood while choosing sides in grade school pick-up games. Rosie moved to Las Vegas in 1978 with her sister Moira in tow. She worked as a respiratory therapist in a regional hospital until moving to California in 1984. Rosie continued in the health field caring for elderly patients in the San Francisco Bay area until 1996 and St. Ann's in Westerville Ohio until 2013. Rosie's survivors include siblings, Mike, Mary (Bob) Smith, John (Suzanne Hagopian), Pat, Steve, Joe (Monica), Margy (David) Cordray, Andy (Marilyn), Moira, Chip (Karen). Rosie is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she loved very deeply and countless friends. And we are extremely grateful for the tremendous support and compassionate care that the women of St. Paul's Helping Hands gave to our sister. Thank You! Family will receive friends Monday, September 24 from 10-11:30 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 313 N State St., Westerville, OH 43082, where her Memorial Mass will follow at 11:30 am. Fr. David E. Gwinner as Presider. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ohio Health Hospice Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr, Columbus, OH 43214, for the wonderful, just wonderful care that Rosie received. SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit www.schoedinger.com to share condolences. You will always be remembered as our Rosie Posie, mom's flower! And so, so missed by all you touched.
