Ruth Henry Cooper was born on August 13, 1939, in Bigstick, West Virgina to the blessed union of the late Henry and Arelee Taylor. She was the fifth of eight children. Five siblings (Natlene, Ruby, Jack, Mable, and Gladys) preceded her in death.
Ruth was one of the four beloved Taylor Sisters, who grew up singing in church. Her faith and family were the foundation of her life, and she always reminded those she loved that "We are not rich by money, but we are rich by love-it's worth more than silver and gold".
Ruth was known for her bright spirit and kind heart. She loved writing and journaling, often filling pages with her thoughts, stories, and memories. There was never a dull moment when Ruth was around. She had a playful sense of humor and always had a story to tell that could make everyone smile. Her warmth, silliness, and genuine love for others made her a joy to be around. She left a lasting impression on everyone who encountered her. She often reminded those she loved "Don't take no wooden nickels" a saying that perfectly captured her wisdom, humor, and down-to-Earth nature.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her remaining children, Rulene, Donna, Booker, Vince, Pete and Terale whom she raised as her very own. She also leaves to cherish her memory, two beautiful sisters, Vonnie and Arelene; twenty-three grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and a host of loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Welcomed with open arms in heaven, Ruth was reunited with her beloved husband, Booker T. Cooper and her two daughters, Karren Cooper and Anita Fleming.
We know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Ruth's body fought the good fight while her soul won the battle. She was the epitome of strength, honor and grace. She was a walking blessing. She is now at peace and we are grateful for every day we had to love her.
