

Ruth M. Stehle, (Schleppi) went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, November 19, 2015 at Friendship Village of Columbus, Ohio at the age of 95. Ruth is survived by her children, Tim (Jane) Stehle of Columbus and Janet (Dennis) King of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren Cory (Mike) Hughes of Lima, Laura (Brandon) Matney, Anna (Kent) Keister of Columbus, and Andrew (Katie) King of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Bernadine, "Bernie" Cantrell, and sister-in-law, Helen Huntley, of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Brennen and Emelyn Hughes, and Logan, Levi, Audrey, and Violet King, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years A. Paul Stehle, her parents, Ina and Earl Schleppi, sister, Loine Backulich, and brothers, Emerson and Oliver Schleppi. Ruth was born on February 15, 1920 in Obetz, Ohio to Ina and Earl Schleppi. She graduated from Groveport High School. She married Paul, a Naval Aviator, during World War II where he was stationed in Coral Gables, Florida. After the war, they moved to Columbus. Ruth's family and faith in Christ were the center of her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook, loved entertaining and taking care of others. She loved animals of all kinds especially dogs. When Ruth and Paul retired, they spent their winters in Bradenton, Florida. Ruth loved flowers and was a member of the African Violet Society. She was an active and faithful member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley. She was also a Charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bexley where she was active in the evangelism committee and Women of the Church. She also served as church secretary there for a time. Ruth was a member of Bexley Women's Club since 1951. Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 Sunday, November 22, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 East Main Street, Bexley, Ohio 43209. Pastors Thomas Wolfe, Tim Iseringhausen, Denny Asp, and Michael Hughes will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church, or Friendship Village of Columbus , 5800 Forest Hills Blvd, Columbus, Ohio 43231. Ruth's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Friendship Village of Columbus for their excellent care and dedication every day to mom for the last seven years.
