

Preceded in death by Charles F. "Fred", her husband of 57 years. She was a 1953 Graduate of Martins Ferry High School in Martins Ferry, Ohio, and a 1957 graduate of The Ohio State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, serving as Chapter President.
Daughter of the late Edna and Lyle Workman, formerly of Martins Ferry and Columbus, OH. Also preceded in death by granddaughter, Marissa Joslin. Survived by her three daughters Karen (Scott) Joslin of Hillsboro, OR, Brenda (Jim) Pokorny of Mooresville, NC, and Gretchen (Scott) Gordon of Worthington, and grandchildren, Charlie (Laura Sullivan), Devon, and Mitchell Joslin, Matthew, Michael, and Andrew Pokorny, and Kendall Horner, (John) and Danny Gordon.
In 1956, Sandy married Fred, her college sweetheart, who swept her off her feet in his vintage Buick convertible. Sandy led an active life volunteering for many organizations, and was especially involved with Kappa Delta as Chapter Advisor, and then-Children's Hospital Twig Charities, which hosted an annual Pro-Am tournament that later evolved into the PGA Memorial Tournament.
Throughout her life, Sandy enjoyed public speaking beginning with Rainbow Girls, and included her address to the Martins Ferry High School Class of 2002, as honorary guest commencement speaker. She was Executive Director of the Ohio Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics for many years, and longtime member of Brookside Golf and Country Club, where she conquered hole #16 with her aces. Sandy, Fred and their close friends Jess and Carole Carroll spent many weeks vacationing on Hilton Head Island, SC where she had an unlimited supply of her favorite food - crab. She was also an avid Ohio State sports fan, never missing a football or basketball game.
The family would like to thank Trillium Hospice for their kind and loving care of their mother and grandmother. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made in honor of Fred to the Alzheimer's Association.
