Sandra Stone Kelso, passed away on May 12, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late William and Julia (Tillman) Stone on December 21, 1943. Sandy graduated from Woodward High School in Cincinnati. After marrying and having two children, Elisabeth “Beth” (Holtkamp) Ambrose and Jerome “Jerry” Holtkamp, she received her associate degree from Immaculata University, followed by her bachelor’s degree in history from The Ohio State University in 1998. She was an honorary member of the Phi Alpha Theta in the field of History. Much of her adult life was spent on the east coast, mainly in the Philadelphia area. She moved to Columbus to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter’s Olivia Ambrose and Lillie Ambrose in 2014.
Sandy’s success at investing in the stock market allowed her many volunteer opportunities throughout her life. Sandy volunteered for the Columbus area VITAS hospice, Meals on Wheels, the Human Society, and was a domestic violence counselor. Aside from volunteering, her time was taken up loving on her dogs, spending time in nature, and traveling far and wide, including to Australia and Japan.
Sandy will be greatly missed by her children, Elisabeth (nee Holtkamp) Ambrose and Jerome H. Holtkamp; her one and only sister, Diane (Stone) Limbocker and one and only niece Julia “Julie” (Limbocker) Flower stepchildren, Julie Klare, Susan Hess, and Peter Kelso; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her “daughter in heart”, Barbara Dewson and “son in heart” Jeffrey “Jeff” Perrin.
Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Northwest. A private family graveside service will take place, later this summer, at The Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio so she can be laid to rest next to her mother and grandparents.
