

Steven M. Halterman, age 55, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2011. He was born in Columbus on September 1, 1955, and was a graduate of Franklin Heights High School. Steve earned a degree in graphic arts from Columbus State, and he worked as an operator for the City of Columbus Department of Water and Sewage Treatment for 17 years. He loved cars and enjoyed driving his Corvette, and he also loved to read. He was a gun collector, a good cook, and in his younger years, he enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, and fishing. Steve had a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was intelligent and considerate, and he was always kind to strangers. He enjoyed life and the ones around him. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Soozie Halterman; parents, Edward and Mallie Halterman; siblings, Thomas (Penny) Halterman, Sheri (Michael) Bell, Scott Halterman, and Kathy (Larry) Moss; father- and mother-in-law, Tom and Pauline Daum; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and good friends, including Terry Arbogast, Nick Blazy, and Danny Dumplings. He was preceded in death by good friend, Dennis Nixon. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Celebrant Mark Dettmer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
