

Susan Elizabeth Chastang, age 72, died September 8, 2016 after a short illness. She is survived by her sister, Jeanne and brother-in-law, Don Hoodecheck; nieces and nephews, Mark, Stephen, Christopher, Elizabeth and Jennifer Hoodecheck; 14 grand-nieces and nephews; and two great grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Chastang, and her mother Ruth Bullock Chastang. Susan was a lifelong resident of Upper Arlington, attended St. Agatha grade school, St. Joseph Academy and Marjorie Webster College in Washington D.C. She was an avid horsewoman, winning many Tri-State blue ribbons with her saddlebred mare. She continued her involvement with the breeding and raising of other saddlebreds for many years. She was passionate about all animals, especially her succession of dashunds. Susan was an accomplished artist whose talents included the creation of many outstanding model doll houses, exemplary needlework, and decorative paintings. She enjoyed these pursuits in companionship with her mother who was also her best friend. Susan’s sister and brother-in-law, nieces and nephews, and cousins, Joy Reinart, Nancy Blake, Jim and Steve Bullock will remember her for her out-going, fun loving nature. She will be missed by them and her close friends. The family would like to extend particular thanks to the staff of Crown Pointe Care Center who provided care and loving compassion during Susan’s last months and to her nephew Mark, cousin Joy and family friend, Mark Senff. Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 9:30am-11am at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221, where funeral services will be at 11am.
