

Teresa D. (Thompson) Freeman, 63, of Columbus, went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2016. She was born on September 26, 1952 in Welch, WVa to the late Willie and Patricia (Linville) Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Darnell Watkins, Jr., and her sister Gwen Booker. Teresa was a 1970 graduate of Jonathan Alder High School. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired from the Bureau of Worker's Compensation. Teresa loved to cook and was well-known for her banana pudding, pound cake and spaghetti. She loved to dance and never complained. Teresa was a forgiving, caring and giving woman who will be deeply missed by her daughters Donita and Sherita Watkins; brothers, Willie (Freda) Thompson, Jr., Odell (Carolyn) Thompson, Richard (Cathy) Thompson and Benny (Brenda) Thompson; and her grandchildren Donzel, Taliek, Taejon and Tiyair Watkins. Teresa was a member of the Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 2283 Sunbury Road, Columbus, where her funeral celebration will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 12 noon with Dr. Donald J. Washington presiding. Friends and family will gather to visit at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
