Terry Darrell Smith

Terry D. Smith, loving husband, devoted father and friend passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Ohio State University Hospital at the age of 62. He is finally at peace after courageously battling cancer for the past year.

Terry was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on January 7, 1953. He grew up in Wooster, Ohio and graduated from Wooster High School in 1971. Terry and his family moved to New Albany, Ohio in 2005.

Terry loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, billiard player and sports enthusiast. Nothing made him happier than sitting on a lake fishing, enjoying softball games, or watching his children play sports. Terry's sense of humor and quick wit were enjoyed by everyone who knew him and he will always be remembered for his endearing "Smitty" laugh. He thoroughly enjoyed brightening everyone's day.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Margaret Dicus and his brother Randy. He is survived by his wife Karen L. Maruna, sons Kevin and Matthew Smith, daughter Melanie Mowrer (Jay) and 3 grandchildren, sisters Pam Martin (Roger), Linda Peel and Sally Hallam (Don).

Services will be held at The Church of the Resurrection 6300 E. Dublin Granville Rd., New Albany, Ohio at 5:00p.m. on Wednesday, September 2nd. Immediately following, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering at the New Albany Links Clubhouse, 7100 New Albany Links Drive, New Albany, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Pelotonia 2015 to fund cancer research at The OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST.
