Thomas Joseph Charlton, age 83, of Blacklick, Ohio, faded gracefully into his well-deserved eternal rest on Monday, February 16, 2015. He was born November 1, 1931 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Thomas and Marie (Carmalita) Charlton.
Tom grew up in Posttsville, PA where he had a lively, curious childhood with plenty of youthful adventures. He was a Korean War veteran with the U.S. Army. Later, Tom worked for the Federal Government, retiring from DSCC after 37 years of service where he was a notably dedicated and outstanding civil servant receiving many top honors and awards. A younger Tom loved shooting pool, playing tennis and golf. He was dedicated to his family all his life and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents,
Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Ann Charlton and sister, Jean McHazel. Tom was married for 63 years to the love of his life, Grace (Ponter) Charlton. He is further survived by his children, Thomas Charlton, Michael Charlton, Brian (Marie) Charlton and Karen (Roberto) Bonilla; 5 grandchildren, Joseph and Daniel Charlton, Sarah Charlton, and Grace and Elijah Bonilla; and a great-grandson, Nathan.
Family will receive friends Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.), Gahanna, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1051 S. Waggoner Rd., Reynoldsburg, OH, Msgr. David Funk, Celebrant. Interment Mifflin Cemetery.
