

Thomas Frederick Heston of Columbus, age 65, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 8, 2013. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 15, 1947 to Robert and Ruth Heston. Tom was a proud lifetime resident of Hilltop, USA and a member of the first graduating class of Bishop Ready High School. He was a proud Combat Infantry Veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1966 - 1968 and always looked forward to reunions with his war buddies. Tom retired from Franklin County Veterans Service Commission in 2008 where he enjoyed serving fellow veterans. Tom was a member of the VFW Post 7005, DAV, American Legion Post 532, and the NAUS. Tom is survived by his wife, Gale (Simpson) Heston; children, Trisha (Ernie) Hanschman, Lisa (Alfie) Dreger, Melissa (Scott) Dehl, Heather Kirk, Kristen (Tim) Bullock, and John Simpson; his nine grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as "Grumpy" were the light of his life, Amelia, Taylor, Seth, Abi, Bella, Ellyaris, Evan, Troy and Titus; siblings, Bob (Pat) Heston, Maureen (Ernie) Morris, Sue Graessle, Barb (Fred) Prindle, Chris Marcum, Julie (Roy) Litteral, Donnie (Lori) Heston, and Ray(Annie) Heston; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio where Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 2364 W. Mound St. Columbus, OH 43204 with Fr. Romano Ciotola, Celebrant. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. If preferred, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Family Soup Kitchen, 584 W. Broad St. Columbus, Ohio 43215.
