

Thomas L. Tykodi, 59, of New Albany and formerly of Pataskala, a devoted husband and loving dad, passed away at 6PM on March 29, 2016 after medical complications stemming from a bicycle accident in 2012, which resulted in paralysis. He and his family fought for almost four years until his body could no longer continue.
Tom was born December 10, 1956 in Columbus and grew up in Pataskala. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, attended Pataskala Elementary School, and achieved Eagle Scout status with Troop 21 of the Boys Scouts of America of Pataskala. He was a 1975 Salutatorian graduate of Watkins High School where he was MVP on the golf team, member of the National Honor Society, President of the Student Council and selected as a representative for the Freedom Pilgrimage to Valley Forge where he met his wife-to-be, Debbie. He received his BS in mathematics from Muskingum College where he was a Kappa Sigma and his MBA from Bowling Green State University. For over 30 years he was employed with Advanced Drainage Systems as a compliance Manager. He enjoyed golfing, biking, bowling and volunteering through church and the community. He gave his time to Habitat for Humanity, The Red Cross, Faith Mission and Little League coaching. He was an active member of the New Albany Community Choir and the New Albany UMC Choir for over 20 years where he was also active in the bell choir. He was a member of the Columbus Table Tennis Club in the ‘80s. Tom loved following college football and the PGA. Tom traveled with his family and friends, visiting many different countries and all 50 states. One of his favorite memories was seeing the Rocky Mountains for the first time. Being the witty man Tom was, he loved participating in the Columbus Dispatch Cartoon Caption Contest winning five times; He won the New Yorker contest once. Tom valued his time serving the community and always put others’ needs before his own.
Tom leaves behind his beloved family including his parents Thomas T. and Martha (Nichols) Tykodi, His wife of 31 years, Debbie (Webber) Tykodi and his daughter Becky Tykodi; siblings Tammy (Matt) Seifert and Teri (Mark) Berliner; niece and nephew Reid (Brittany) Seifert and Jillian Seifert; mother-in-law Alison Webber; aunts Loretta Nemeth, Lois Tykodi and Mary Lou Fairall and families; brother-in-law Chip Webber and sister-in-law Susie (Eddie) Milby and families, as well as numerous cousins and his pets Bosley and Buttercup. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Leslie and Theon Nichols and John and Mary Tykodi; uncles Ralph Tykodi, John Tykodi, Jerry Nemeth and Robert Fairall and father-in-law William Webber.
SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST in Gahanna has been entrusted with funeral arrangements and visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 from 2-7PM at New Albany UMC, 20 3rd St, New Albany, OH 43054, where in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made. A funeral service will be held at the church Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10AM with an hour prior visitation. Pastor Frank Luchsinger officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
