

Velia Catherine "Val" Meyer, age 91, of Grove City, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015. She was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on February 16, 1924 to the late Joseph and Teresa (Gallo) Crucis. She was a graduate of Leechburg High School and attended business school. Val worked at Schenley Distillery where she met her husband Jack with whom she married in Leechburg in September of 1949. From then on she was a very proud homemaker. She was a member of St. Lawrence Church, Tri Kappa Sorority, and the Review Club in Indiana. She was also a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Grove City, Ohio. Val loved gardening and enjoyed winters spent in Naples, Florida. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John P. "Jack" Meyer in 1986; infant son, James Patrick Meyer; infant brother, Pietro; and son in-law, Scott Firth. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Paul) Rank, Joanne (Gary) Lester; and Michael (Michele) Meyer; beloved grandsons, Brian (Jodi) Firth, Brent Firth, David (Maggie) Lester, and Joseph (Jen) Lester; and the joys of her life, great granddaughters, Riley, Sara, and Hannah Lester. Friends may call on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 9:30AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123. Fr. Dan Millisor, celebrant. A second visitation will follow on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 1:00PM-3:00PM at the Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, 455 Ridge Ave, Greendale, Indiana 47025. She will be laid to rest privately at Greedale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, Grove City, Ohio.
