

Virginia H. “Ginni” Pickens, age 86, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 27, 2022. She was born on January 5, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Frederick and Louise (Cable) Hirsch. Preceded in death by her husband Ferdinand Pickens II. Ginni is survived by her children, Martin (Nancy), David (Martha) and Paige (Gerard) Schlembach; grandchildren, Josh, Charlie, Lauren, Austin, Mack and Davey; great-grandchild, Andrea.
A lifelong resident of Upper Arlington and graduate of the class of 1953. Ginni graduated from The Ohio State University and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Ginni was very active in many charitable organizations and often the treasurer to include The Buckeye Ranch, Childhood League Board V, Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club, Columbus Speech and Hearing Center, Daughters of the American Revolution, 1953 High School reunion group, and her sewing group “Bags” with her dearest friends. She loved knitting blankets, sweaters or anything for family and friends.
She was awarded the 1978 Northwest Woman of the Year through the UA Rotary Club. Lifelong member of Scioto Country Club and Covenant Presbyterian Church. Ginni enjoyed reading and wouldn’t miss a day of her Dispatch puzzles, Judge Judy and General Hospital from the very first episode. She loved Naples Florida and spent many winters there. Ginni loved her Buckeyes, never missed watching a game to include attending the 1950 Snow Bowl. Ginni was a loving mother, grandmother and wonderful friend.
Visitation will be held from 5-8PM on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where a Memorial Service will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, August 5, 2022. Interment at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
