

Walter Olin Thompson, 88, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2025, at Majestic Care of Whitehall after a fourteen-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was born on August 12, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Olin and Mabel (Baxter) Thompson.
Walter was employed by Trans World Airlines (TWA) as an aircraft mechanic for 36 years. His career took him to New York, NY; Kansas City, MO; Cleveland, OH; and Las Vegas, NV, before spending most of his time in Columbus, OH. He was a member of the Historical Aircraft Squadron in Lancaster, OH, and Motts Military Museum in Groveport, OH. Walter will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a caring grandfather, and a faithful friend.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cassaundra (Sandi) Thompson; his sister, Lennah Thompson of Gahanna, OH; two sons, Paul (Mary) of Fayetteville, NC, and Dale (Sharon) of Columbus, OH; and two stepdaughters, Amy (Micky) Ancil of Anderson, IN, and Renee (Kevin) Boles of Indianapolis, IN; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Walter will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Columbus, OH. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Motts Military Museum, 5075 S. Hamilton Rd., Groveport, OH 43125.
