William "Bill" F. Korting, Jr., born February 29, 1944 to William F. Korting, Sr. and his wife Louise (Wildman) Korting. He passed away on January 30, 2021 at the home he shared with this wife Carolyn.
Bill grew up on the family dairy farm and graduated from Windsor High School in Stockport. He had a high regard for education and attended many classes at both Ohio State University and Columbus Community College. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard as well as a volunteer fireman for the Clinton Township Fire Department in Columbus, Ohio. He retired from construction work as a member of the Columbus Laborers Union. Like his grandfather, Bill was an inventive and mechanically minded carpenter and tradesman. He put those skills to good use as a well-known Ohio State University landlord in the campus area. He greatly enjoyed interacting with the students from the area as well as many foreign students and retained a special friendship with many of them.
Bill relished his retirement time maintaining his rental properties and working on the reconstruction projects of the Historical trains at the Depot Event Center in Columbus, Ohio. He loved to dress as a conductor and give tours of the facility as well as run the mini train cars for rides. Bill was heavy into genealogy and with his brother John, they had successfully reestablished contact with many distant relatives throughout Germany and the Netherlands.
Bill was known for his interesting sense of humor, his lively curiosity and he was an avid storyteller. To say he was incredibly kind to everyone is an understatement. He traveled throughout the United States with his wife Carolyn and continued to add many adventures and knowledge.
Above all, Bills life was centered on his family and his extended family. He raised his family with selfless love and shared that love. He is greatly missed by his wife, Carolyn, his children from a previous marriage; Janice (Jeff) Meyer, Grant Korting, Maria Nunez and Kelly Bryant; siblings, Ann Ward, Irene Brink, and John (Deborah) Korting; eleven beloved grandchildren and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. Korting, Sr. and Louise M. (Wildman) Korting; his son, William F. Korting III, and a brother, Frederick Korting. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTH.
A celebration of Bills life will be held at a later date.
