

William C. Long, age 68 of Circleville, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born July 28, 1943 in East Liverpool, Ohio, son of the late Floyd and Stella (Strobel) Long. Bill was a 1961 graduate of Wellsville High School where he was active in sports, primarily football and wrestling. A graduate of Otterbein College, his career led him to Diamond Power where is he is retired from. Bill was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting and was especially close to his black labs, most recently “Morgan”. He was a longtime member of the Elk’s Lodge B.P.O.E. #77 where he spent much time with his brother Elks.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Ann Marie (White) Long in 2002; sister Nancy Starkey. He is survived by his sons Joseph (Debbie) Long of Circleville and Stephen Long of Stoutsville; grandchildren David, Olivia and Alexa Long; sisters Sally (Norman) Dean and Charlotte Douglas of Wellsville, Susan Jarvis of New Albany and Debbie (Mark) Fontana of San Diego, CA; brother David (Sandy) Long of Wellsville.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in the chapel of the Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, with Fr. Ted Machnik officiating. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Circleville. Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
