William "Phil" Moreland

MORELAND

William “Phil” Moreland, age 80, of Columbus, OH passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011. He was born February 23, 1931 in Columbus to the late Charles and Charlotte Moreland. Following his graduation from Central High School, Phil joined the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Corporal. He enjoyed working at Port Columbus Airport as a heavy equipment mechanic up until his retirement on May 7, 1985. Phil was most relaxed with a fishing pole in one hand and a beer in the other. Diabetes took its toll on Phil… it was pretty rough, and although he was known to be stubborn and impatient at times, there was never a doubt that he loved and appreciated his family. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 38 years, Emma; children, Tammy, Dawn, Billie, Alta, Sue, Kay, Mike, Yvonne, Steve and Michele; grandchildren, Ali, Nikki, Keith, JoJo and Maverick. At Phil’s request, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Schoedinger Funeral Service, 3030 W.
