Adua Zangrilli of Valley Cottage, NY , 85 years old, passed away peacefully knowing she was loved dearly by her son , family and friends. She came to the United States from a small town named Spigno Saturnia as an Italian immigrant to escape the poverty after WW2 on the Andrea Doria ship in its last sailing before it sank. Here in America she immediately took classes to learn english and worked as a seamstress. She married the love of her life, Giovanni Zangrilli, who pre-deceased her in 1985. Giovanni and Adua were blessed with their only child Giulio in 1968. She loved Cooking, entertaining family and friends as well as going to Broadway shows and concerts. Spending time with her family on the holidays was special to her. Despite her illness , and being confined to a wheelchair, she always had a positive attitude. She loved participating in the daily activities at her nursing home and was a master at winning at Bingo, to the point where her co-residents would get upset. However, everyone enjoyed socializing with her and she loved socializing with the staff and other residents as well. Her smile was infectious. and her positive attitude was an inspiration to everyone around her.
Her greatest love was her son, Giulio, and her family here and back home in Italy. Adua is survived by her sister Filomena Zangrilli, her sister-in-law Assunta Zottola . Also her nieces and nephews both here and in Italy whom were always special to her.
