Mark Czerwinski of Valley Cottage, NY, 58 years old, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2020. He was born on September 18, 1962 to Irene and Thomas Czerwinski. Mark moved to Valley Cottage in 1973 from Brooklyn. He graduated from Albertus Magnus High School and Pace University with a degree in Journalism. He became a sports journalist with the Paterson News before becoming a writer for the Bergen Record. For many years, he was the newspaper’s writer for the New Jersey Devils and the New York Rangers. In 1994, he married the love of his life, Jennifer Creadick. Mark fulfilled a long time dream when he became a Deacon in 2008. Mark served as a Deacon at St. Paul’s in Congers New York. Mark enjoyed being a long suffering Mets forever. He loved spending his free time fishing and gardening. He had a love for history, specifically the Civil War, but his greatest joys came from his family. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, his daughters Elizabeth and Mary, his mother Irene, his sister Laura Biktjorn and brother Kevin Czerwinski. He is also survived by seven nephews, two nieces, and a great nephew. Mark is predeceased by his father and sister. Anyone who knew Mark, knew he had a deep and unwavering faith in God. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday October 14 from 4-8 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday October 15, 10am, at St. Paul’s Church, Congers, followed by interment at Gethsemane, Congers, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
