
Mildred E. Cooper devoted mother and loving grandmother passed away quietly on April 3, 2011. Born in Yonkers on April 29, 1928, she has been a resident of Congers for the past 45 years. She worked as a comptroller until her retirement and then was an active member of her community volunteering at St. Paul's Food Cupboard, Nyack Hospital and Board of Elections. She was a member of the Congers Senior Citizens where she enjoyed many good times with loyal friends. She is predeceased by husband Robert; brother Louis Caffaro; sister Aurelia Martin and in-laws Peter & Marjorie Margiotta and James Martin. She is survived by her children Madlyn ((Ron) Vaillancourt, Robert (Marianne) Cooper, and Janet (Andrew) Davidson; grandchildren: Christine, Robert, Brian, Matthew, RJ and Daniel and an extended loving family. She was a devoted member of St. Paul's Parish and her memory will live on through the people she has touched throughout her life. Viewing will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at St. Paul's Church at 9:30am followed by entombment at Ferncliff Mausoleum. Two years ago, as a tribute to her, a scholarship fund was established at the Weill Cornell Medical College. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name can be made to this fund.
