Obituary of Harold "PC" Carlton
Harold R. “PC” Carlton, 86, died Wednesday July 31, 2019 at Reid Health Hospital in Richmond. Harold was born to Wesley and Nora Stockton Carlton on August 21, 1932 in Adair County, Kentucky. In 1950 three weeks prior to the start of the Korean War, he enlisted in the U. S. Army. “PC” served as a tank mechanic with the rank of Corporal (T). His military decorations included the Korean Service Metal with five bronze stars. “PC” had been employed at Wallace Metal Products in Richmond for 20 years. He had also owned a radiator repair business. “PC” retired in 1994 from the maintenance department at Fayette Memorial Hospital. He was very active in the community as a valued member of the Eagles, AMVETS, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge #1160 where he received their highest honor, the Pilgrim Degree. “PC” is survived by his children: Eddie Carlton and his wife, Kim of Fountain City; Larry Carlton & Rebecca Bergen of Brownsville; Lisa Carlton & Dave Smoot of Avon; two grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parent’s, “PC” was preceded into death by his siblings: Jimmie Carlton, Robert Carlton, Delores “Babe” Hoover, Dallas “Rocky” Carlton, and Audra Cummings. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2019, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Eric Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in Brownsville Christian Union Cemetery in Union County with military honors by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 p.m. Monday until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to Moose Charities, 155 S. N.
