Sharon Kaye Henry

Sharon K. Hamilton Henry, 74, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Sharon was born to Robert and O. Ellen Moore Hamilton on November 24, 1946 in Connersville. On January 1, 1982 she began employment at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. She started as a dispatcher, and was then promoted to a jail officer. Sharon was promoted once more, receiving the rank of Sargent prior to her retirement in June of 2007. She enjoyed gardening, painting, drawing and cooking. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

Sharon is survived by her two daughters: Sherri (Nick) Rybolt, Judy (Steve) Bennett; sisters: Rebecca Moore and Debra Barnes; brother: Ray Moore Jr.; grandchildren: Kristin (Jesse) Allen, Zach Jackson (Hannah Lakes), Alexis (Chris) Fox, and Caleb Henry; great-grandchildren: Hunter Allen, Owen Allen, Jayci Allen, Hayden Jackson, Tommi Fox and Jace Tibbot; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her former husband: Richard L. Henry Sr.; son: Richard L. Henry Jr.; former son-in-law: Jay Jackson.

At the request of the family, private services will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Fayette County Animal Shelter in Sharon’s honor. Showalter Blackwell Long has been entrusted with arrangements.

Sharon and I worked at Stants together, I loved her like a sister. Even tho I moved to Indy we always kept in touch!
So sorry for your loss Sherri and Judy and family. God bless you all. She’s with her son now. That was such a hard loss for her. Be at peace my sister.

I was a co-worker of Sharon I worked as clerk in the Judge’s office. She was always fun to be around. I still have a painting that she did for me for my birthday will cherish it forever. RIP my friend. Prayers to the family.
