My dear Martha, 
I just found out about this horrific tragedy and wish I had known sooner. I will never forget meeting your wonderful daughter at the huge Dunlap family reunion. She impressed me by her honesty and the fact that she embraced who she was without any qualms. (At least that is what I perceived). You and my late cousin Jimmy raised a beautiful young woman who came to an untimely end. My love for family is strong - even though I am hundreds of miles away from home - you are in my heart always. Please pass my message on to all who loved her - especially her life partner and her children. Love always, Sarah (Bell) Murphy (Aunt Ollie & Uncle Mose daughter).

How does one say good bye to a sister?  I loved my niny. We may have been half a world apart but the heart stays close. I don't know what to say or how to act. I'm horrified that life must go on. Chores must be done, the body must be fed, washed and rested. I look in the mirror and expect to see scars it hurts that bad. I want to be with my family while we say good by to the first hero I ever had but I can't and they understand that. I will miss dearly my sister taken from us by a careless driver. She was the collector of the family, ask anyone she had a collection of strays. All ages and types. If someone was in trouble she was there with an open door and heart. She collected people the more damaged the more she gave. She protected those she loved fearcly. You could depend on her to have your back. The world is a cruel place and she was one of the truly innocent careing. A heart of gold with the strength of a lion.
I will walk with a limp in my heart for the rest of my days.

When we were introduced by Debs many years ago, I liked you then. I love you now. Prayers for Maw and the rest of the family and so wish Debs could make it home to say her goodbyes. Much love, Dina and David Thomas

My name is Matt Allen. Duka took me in as one of her own children when I was just 14 years old. She watched me grow into the young man I am today. I still can't believe she's gone. Words can't express the thanks and gratitude I have for her. God needed himself a Valentine, I reckon. Marissa, Big Mama, Mary, Micheal, Shane, Jessica, Danny....anyone else, I love you all.
