Jack Newman

Jack was born January 30th, 1951, in Newnan, to Sam and Judith Newman. The youngest of four children, he graduated in 1969 from Western High School in Newnan and later from Falls College in Atlanta. After a short time teaching at Falls College, he served in a variety of operational roles for such companies as Playtex International, CBS Records, Lithonia Lighting and Hill-Rom, before retiring in 2003.

In 1982, Jack married Jackie Spalde, and moved to Conyers, where he pursued his passions of coin collecting, landscaping, lively debates, and entertaining friends and family, both at home and on the town. He was known and loved for his wit, honesty, genuine concern for the people he considered his friends, and his ability to keep people up late into the night singing tunes by the Beatles long after closing time.

Jack is survived by Jackie, his loving wife of 30 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Kristopher and Rebecca Newman, of Sugar Hill; his sister Elaine Bagby, of Bremen; his granddaughter, Shelby Newman, also of Sugar Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Judith Newman; his brother, Jimmy Newman of NC and his sister, Patricia Folds of Newnan.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 3:00 p.m., at Horis A. Ward, Rockdale Chapel. The gathering of family and friends will be from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, prior to the service.
