Linda Mae Browne-Matafahi, 63, of Santan passed away April 9, 2025. Born to James William Browne and Myrna Dianne Osife on August 6, 1961, in Oxnard, California. Linda was an individual who touched so many of us with her positive quality, kindness, humor, strength, and very classic memories. She lived a life filled with love. We’ll forever cherish the unconditional love she always gave us. Her strength and resilience inspired us to be who we are today.
Linda's presence was a beacon of love and strength. Her unwavering support and endless compassion touched everyone she met. She had a natural ability to make those around her feel valued and understood. As a mother, Linda was our rock. She nurtured us with kindness, taught us resilience, and instilled in us the importance of integrity and empathy. Her lessons were not just spoken but lived, as she led by example, every day. Linda's passions were as vibrant as her spirit. Whether she was volunteering in the community or sharing stories, she approached everyone with enthusiasm and dedication. Her desire for life was contagious, inspiring us to embrace each moment fully.
She took care of her siblings, family, children and grandchildren. After her mother passed, she took on the responsibility of looking after her siblings. It was her natural instinct. She resembled her mother a lot, she looked just like her and both sides of the family would always remind her that she was a mirror image of her mother. Although she always stood on her beliefs, she would be quick to put you in your place if you were in the wrong. She rarely ever said no, and she was always there when help was needed and did her very best to make it possible no matter what. She wouldn't hesitate to open her doors for you.
Growing up Linda played volleyball, basketball, ran track & excelled in the shot put. Linda was very talented at sports and was a sprinter and ran very fast. She loved to cheer on her little sister at school events. No matter the situation she was ready and had her sweater tied around her waist, for any confrontation. She always looked after her sister and was there to protect her.
She loved to cook. Her food brought people together and her kitchen was a place of laughter, love & storytelling. She poured her heart into every dish. She loved cooking for Thanksgiving and enjoyed making sweet potato pies.
Linda leaves behind her siblings Stephen James Browne, James Cecil Browne, James Delbert Browne, Elizabeth Garner Browne, Sally, Carol, Richard, Liliana, David Rowland, and James William Browne Jr. Sons- Olic Dunning IV, Maurice Dunning, Jeremy Dunning, Andre' Dunning, Donte’ Dunning, Sifa Matafahi and daughter Siale Matafahi.
