Amy Lea Brown (1976-2018) had many gifts: she had a huge heart, a ready wit, and the ability to dispense with nonsense. Her home was open not just to her own children, but a wide extended family of friends. She selflessly offered space to others in need. She had almost a second sense for when friends or family were hurting, and she was proactive about reaching out to them and checking in over a period of time to make sure that they were okay.
She loved crafts, gossip and laughter. Often, the lens of laughter was turned on herself, as she would share stories of dumb mistakes that she had made, and the efforts that she went to to fix them.
Amy was a community builder. She had friendships all over the world in the online communities she frequented, and she kept family and friends close to home in touch with one another.
She was an amazing mother, who encouraged children (whether her own, or part of the extended group of kids she welcomed into her home) to be strong and independent. Many of those kids called her their second mom.
She died of a heart attack on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jacqueline; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Verda Schweim; and paternal grandparents, Gene and Evelyn Murphy.
She is survived by four children: Natalie, Shad, Tori and Kylar; her brother Andy, sister-in-law Hilary, niece Cassie, and nephew Duncan as well as a plethora of friends and extended family.
