Ann Marie Postma was born July 24, 1942, in Starbuck, MN, to Albert Ralph Bullick and Eleanor Mabel (Carlson) Bullick. Ann passed away December 5, 2011 at the age of 69. The oldest of eight children, she cherished her memories of growing up in a large family on the farm. Ann graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in Alexandria, MN, in 1960. She continued her education in the Twin Cities and graduated from Swedish School of Nursing in August of 1963. Ann married Dennis Postma on June 12, 1965, and they welcomed two children: Christopher in 1968 and Betsy in 1973. Ann worked as a Registered Nurse in both a hospital and home care setting and volunteered with Countryside Hospice in Pierre, SD, but her priority was to be a support to her husband, siblings, and children; she never let a week pass, even at the end, without communicating with each of them. She was also a loving, attentive Nana to Bennett, Jetta, and Erik.
Ann made her choice to serve God at age ten and continued to serve God and others faithfully throughout her life. One of her greatest joys was having an open home to friends, family, and servants of God.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Eleanor and one infant sister, Sandra Jean. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Postma; son Christopher and wife Carla (Andrews) Postma with grandson Erik of Rochester, MN; daughter Betsy and husband Keith Peterson with grandchildren Bennett and Jetta of Pasco, WA. She is also survived by sisters: Patricia Bullick of Coon Rapids, MN; Barb (Doug) Frye of Burnsville, MN; Mary (Les) Spinner of Oklahoma City, OK; Rebecca Bullick of Visalia, CA; and brothers: Ralph (Peggy) Bullick of Anoka, MN; Raymond (Barb) Bullick of Salinas, CA; and Bruce (Kristi) Bullick of Fort Worth, TX; and 20 beloved nieces and nephews.
Dennis and Ann made their home in Worthington, St. Paul, and Forest Lake, MN for 37 years, before moving to Pierre, SD, in 2002. To finish her days closer to family, they moved back to Minnesota in May, 2011. The family would like to express its appreciation to Mayo Clinic, Comfort Home Care, Seasons Hospice, Park Nicollet Hospice, the Colonial Acres Nursing Staff; and to countless dear friends, including Ed and Hannah Long, for your love and support to Ann and her family.
Although Ann will be missed deeply, we feel blessed and enriched to have shared in her gentle life seasoned with generosity and grace.
