Gordon my father was an exceptional man. Being raised on a farm in Fertile Minnesota he knew the meaning of a hard day’s work. He told me once that he used to grade the rural roads of that area with a team of horses and a wheel blade, when he thought the day was done he would be brought a new team of horses and a sandwich and told to keep on going after a 8 hour day already. From those beginnings he was a heavy equipment operator the rest of his working days having been involved with the logging industry up north and out west to the building of our freeway systems. He took pride in being one of the best blade operators in the area and farther. For those of you who don’t know what a road grader was it was the most difficult ground machine to run taking years of experience to hone those skills and get where he was when he retired.
He loved to gamble as a past time playing Blackjack with the best of them and going to Las Vegas. He and my mother kept a yard that was envied by all and liked to travel and to see us kids wherever we were. From my sister Debbie and her husband Evans in Auckland, New Zealand and Maryland out east to the hills of Tennessee and the Arizona desert.
He had a knack for numbers, math as well as roads. He could tell you all the roads from here to wherever you were going by memory, unbelievable! He was loved by all and had a kind heart that could be seen when he was around the kids that were attracted to him.
He was one in a million being married to my mother Betty for almost 73 years and raising a family of 5 kids in the roughest of times. He was able to live the American Dream and a full life with all of its difficulties and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.


Gordon was one  of the finest men we have ever known!  A man of honesty and integrity, steady as a rock.  We will miss him dearly!  Betty, hugs to you and all of the family!

Gordon is survived by his wife of 73 years, Betty; children, Deborah (Evans) Heath, Larry (Linda), Randy (Janet), and Kerry (Patti); grandchildren, Shane, Rikki Kay, Alethea, Jarod, Dustin, Amber, Trevor, and Whitney; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends
