James Beltrand

An evening visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Boulevard NW in Coon Rapids, followed by a short service of remembrance at 5:30, and dinner.

James was born to Wallace and Iris (Kathleen) Beltrand on April 15, 1941, in Minneapolis, MN. He attended school in Anoka where he met Janice Moey. They married on October 17, 1959, and together raised their five children. He was a dedicated carpenter during his working years, loved spending time with family and enjoyed life at the lake whenever possible.

James was an avid sportsman, spending his time fishing on Leech Lake, hunting the Northwoods and snowmobiling with family and the Champlin Snow Champs club. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and searching the woods for the next best tree for firewood. He was notorious for “Jimmy” rigging everything.

He is survived by his wife Janice; children Todd Beltrand, Kelli (Kevin) Jasperson, Traci Beltrand, Wendy (Dave) McBroom and Terry (Amy) Beltrand; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister Marlene (Lester) Kasper, Sister-in-law Donna Beltrand, brother-in-law Floyd Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Adrian (Audrey) Beltrand, JoAnne Johnson and Jerry Beltrand.
