John Duane Grow, age 90, of Blaine passed away at Havenwood of Minnetonka on April 8th, 2024. John was born on May 28th, 1933 in Greenbush Township, the first child of John Richard and Laura Margaret (Vernon) Grow. He was raised in Princeton and graduated from Princeton High School in 1950.
John married his wife Marian on March 3, 1962 and together they built a home in Blaine, where they raised their daughters Joann and Susan. He was a wonderful, hands-on father that always encouraged and supported his daughters. He was employed by Unisys for over 40 years. He loved fishing, especially his trips to the Churchhill River and salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. John also enjoyed hunting, camping, and was an avid reader. He enjoyed being a Grandpa and spent many hours “driving” on adventures in his pickup, reading aloud, and hunting cave bears in snow banks.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marian Grow; parents, Richard and Laura Grow; sisters, Deanna Magnuson and Lola Cordes; brother Daniel Grow.
John is survived by his daughters Joann Grow and Susan Pettis; his grandson Jeremy Pettis; and sister Marlene Bakeberg. He will be missed by his sisters-in-law, bothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
