John was born in Lincoln County, MN and grew up in Arco. After high school in Ivanhoe he moved to Minneapolis where he married and had children. He spent over thirty years working for the Bureau of Engraving as both a union and company employee. He and his wife moved to Northern Kentucky for about thirteen years before moving back to Minnesota to enjoy his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Pamela, daughter Sarah (Nathan), son Adam, and grandchildren Maeve, Deter, Bennett, and Kelsey, Sisters Kathy Ouverson and Beverly Jackson, and will be dearly missed by many others.
He was preceded in death by his father Elmer, his mother Caroline, his brother Dennis, niece Erin and numerous aunts, uncles and other family members.
John will be remembered as an ornery old man who put on a grumpy façade, but had a big heart and would help anyone in need. His favorite thing in life was being a grandfather, he loved his grandkids more than anything.
Memorial Service 11:00 am Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Gearhart Funeral Home (11275 Foley Blvd. NW., Coon Rapids, MN) with Memorial Visitation starting at 10:00 am until time of service.
