Marlene was an incredibly kind, wise, and Godly woman. She loved all those around her with a firm, quiet and unwavering caring spirit that gave us all such confidence. She was genuine, compassionate, trustworthy and fiercely loyal. Her counsel could always be trusted because of her character. She was fun and brought great joy to those around her. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She kept a real but sunny outlook on life. She was the same person in each facet of her life; her marriage, parenting, grandkids, friendships, and her professional life. Her warm hugs, happy smile, and love have touched so many lives and we are all better because of her.
Marlene was the loving and faithful wife of 40 years to Bruce. They lived in Coon Rapids most of these years and raised their family there. Marlene and Bruce were avid soccer parents, Marlene attended local Bible studies, both attended Faith Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God.” Marlene had a strong and genuine faith in Jesus Christ and we are assured of her eternity. We find comfort knowing that her spirit is in the hands of our Lord and Savior.
Marlene was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Outcalt (nee Mast), a long-time resident of the Farmstead in Andover and by her father, Elmore Outcalt. She was mother to two adult children, both of whom reside in the Twin Cities metro. Daughter, Amy (Hill) Kobielush (38) (Maple Grove - husband Brent, children Haleigh 10, Blake 8). Son, Josh Hill (35) (South St. Paul - wife Rawan, daughter Ava 18 months). Marlene was a dearly loved mother in law to both Brent and Rawan, thoughtful, caring and helpful. She was a source of encouragement and blessing in both of their lives. Marlene was an incredible Grandma to her 3 grandchildren and her loss in this capacity will be devastating.
She was a longtime employee of Presbyterian Homes, serving as housing counselor for seniors and their families at the Farmstead in Andover for many years, in addition to a number of years at the North Oaks, finally retiring from the Wayzata location.
In keeping with current regulations, an intimate gathering of her immediate family will be held at Gearhart Funeral Home, in Coon Rapids on Thursday, March 26th at 11am.
