Pat Braun passed away May 16, 2018 at her apartment in Andover, MN after living almost her entire adult life within sight of the Blaine, MN water tower. She was born January 30, 1931 in Wood Lake, MN, the youngest child of John and Emelia Adams. Her father died when she was six weeks old, leaving her mother alone to raise her and her siblings thru the Great Depression. Pat graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1949 and attended Minneapolis Business College. She was united in marriage to Andy Braun in Wood Lake on September 8, 1956.
Pat was a star athlete (and charter member of the Wood Lake Hall of Fame) who grew up in an era when sports opportunities for women were extremely limited. She was a life long fan of the Twins and Vikings, a fantasy football aficionado and especially a fan of the Lynx and Gopher women’s athletics. She was an avid card player who took great delight in teaching her children (and grandchildren) the games and then beating them!
Pat battled the “wet” kind of macular degeneration over her last 25 years which made it difficult to navigate life and follow the high school athletic careers of her grandchildren; she was always hopeful that new treatments would be found to preserve and improve her eyesight.
She was a great lady who loved and was loved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
She is survived by her Sons, Chuck and Mike (Kelly) and Daughter Mary (Mark) Hedin, her Grandchildren Kirsten Hedin (John Nerge), Jon (Mary-Michael) Hedin, TJ Hedin and Taylor Hedin; and Great grandchildren Peter and Andrew Nerge.
She was preceded in death by her Husband; her Brother John; and her Sisters Edna, Mary, Phyllis, Gladys and Betty.
