Dick was born September 7, 1941 in Remer, MN with his twin brother, Robert. His parents were Grace and Rungwell Hanson. He met his wife Dorothy at White Castle. They were married on January 18, 1964, and she passed April 5, 2014.
Dick was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 10. He was very involved in youth hockey due to his sons playing hockey. He remained involved even after they were done playing.
Dick and Dorothy enjoyed their vacations to Mazatlan and many other adventures with their great friends, the Froliks and the Lowes. Dick enjoyed going to the casino, taking many road trips (many were with Dorothy), and enjoyed most of his time at the cabin. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He was a very loving father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be dearly missed by all.
He is preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Dorothy Hanson; children, Fredrick and Mary; grandchild, Mac Gobernatz; siblings, Margaret "Peg", Raymond "Pete", John and Jim.
Richard is survived by his children, Robin (Mike) Gobernatz, Rich (Sharon), Randy (Karen), Rodney, Ryan (Cheryl); grandchildren, Olivia, Hannah, Jessi, Abbie, Grace; step-grandchildren, Madison, Riley, Sydney, Emily and Lauren; great-granddaughter, Millie; step-great-grandchildren, Frankie and Bowden; siblings, Ruth, Alma, Robert, Ron, Mary Jo; and many other family members and friends.
Dick's wake will be held 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN. His Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am on March 22, 2024, at Gearhart Funeral Home. Interment at 1:30 pm at Gethsemane Cemetery, 8151 N 42nd Ave, New Hope.
