Rowan was born April 17, 1968 in Tacoma, Washington to Gerald and Janice Eileen McDeid. They then moved back to Iowa near their family. There Rowan grew up having amazing boyhood adventures, stories of bike rides, days on his Grandpa Oscar’s farm. He loved being with his brother and cousins Jay and Blake. Rowan was a swimmer and was proud to keep his high school record until 2012 when the new record setter contacted him to tell him.
He worked as a lifeguard at the pool and had more stories than can be counted of great music, great friends and shenanigans. In high school he was friends with everyone. He was surrounded by his amazing life long friends that to this day were a part of his core.
After College Rowan moved to Minneapolis where he worked in various jobs collecting lifetime friends along the way. At that time he met Lon and the band began. A lifetime of song writing, laughter and gigs.
On March 15, 2000 Rowan’s son Ian was born, and on August 21, 2009 Rowan married Danette Deisher. They had a beautiful daughter, Sawyer Rose together to complete their family. Rowan loved music. Playing and writing music with his friends brought him joy his whole life. Rowan worked at Minneapolis Public Schools and was known as someone that would help with anything and make you laugh. He loved his family, playing guitar with his children, reading to Sawyer Rose, quoting movie lines, watching sports, swimming in the pool, being a dance Dad and his bulldogs.
Rowan is survived by his family, loving wife, Danette, his two children, Ian and Sawyer Rose, His Bulldogs Bundles and Panda. His sisters and brothers-in-law, his Cousin Jay and his second family his amazing band mates, his brother Bryce, and many, many cousins, nieces , nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wonderful mother, Eileen, cousin Blake Richards and his best friend Lon.
An afternoon visitation for Rowan will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, Minnesota 55448, followed by a service of remembrance at 1:30 pm.
