Shawn Michael Essen

Shawn Michael Essen, 44, of St Paul, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the home of his girlfriend.

Born June 23, 1977, he was a lifelong Minnesota resident. He loved to travel, especially to spend time with his family. Music was a big part of Shawn: From his Elvis impression to dancing to Motown, headbanging to Metallica, and always listening to 90’s R&B love songs. He was also a fan of football, car shows, and street racing. Shawn loved to crack jokes and make people laugh, whether you were a dear friend or a stranger at a bus stop. He had a big heart and a kind soul and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Preceded in death by his mother Cindie, grandfathers Bob & Erv, and uncle Randy.

He is survived by his partner Cindy, parents Rick & Deb Essen, grandmothers Dorothy Essen & Marylou Konobeck, sister Tawnya Konobeck & spouse Seven, brothers Joshua Martin & Dustin Worley, 4 nieces & nephews, aunts & uncles, extended family, and many friends.

Shawn's Committal Service will take place Friday, October 15th, 2021, at 1:00 pm, at Sunset Cemetery, 2250 St Anthony Blvd NW, Minneapolis, MN. A Celebration of Life will occur in June of 2022. The family asks that, instead of flowers, to donate in Shawn's memory:

my husband and I met cindi and Shawn in 2018 and cindi Shawn and I became very close friends we were always laughing and having fun regardless of where we were or what we were doing they were always down to ride with me they became my riders we always laughed had fun and made fun happen because Shawn said if ur not laughing in life what's the point we had a few deep talks but it would always end in jokes or in some dresses lol inside joke haha good times buddy u know u r really gonna be missed I'm playing some music just for u bro ur were a good dude R.I.P Shawn

Its been a week since you died everyday im waiting for you to come in the door and say whats to eat babe i hear you everywhere i was moveing your things around and found the ring in the box i love it i will never take it off i will always love you no matter what i always had your back. No matter what anybody else says we know who we were when were were together it wasnt always perfect but what is perfect RIP and please watch over everybody you are at peace now hey tell my mom and dad i said hi and just be your funny self crack your jokes tell your funny stories and fix some bikes be all you can. Love you always you will always be in my prayers

I'm Shawn best friend I first met him 9 years ago. We live together, I also him with him with mom. Met his family, and he was funny character at times. I was always there for him he was always there for me no matter what the situation. We always had each other back. My big brother/ best friend is now gone. May his soul find rest and peace. I love my friend rock on.

Shawn was the love of my life and i will miss him so very much im so glad he was with me when he died and not alone. Im just so greatful that i had almost 4 years with him he will be so missed thank god you are in a better place
