Barbara J Helfrich

Barbara was born in the Bronx to William and Shirley Helfrich. She enjoyed a childhood of music, laughter and trips to the Catskills with her brother Bobby, and sisters Linda and Shirley "Sunny''.

She lived in San Francisco where she acted in a stage production of Hamlet and saw amazing concerts. She next lived in Hawaii, where she hiked up volcanos and ate mangos at the Queen's bath.

Back in the Bronx, she worked as a waitress where she was beloved by both customers and staff for her kind and sweet nature. She was a lifelong animal lover. She is dearly missed by both her pets, Misha and Loki.

She loved the full moon and the ocean. She marveled over the blooming of the cherry blossoms and the colors of the autumn leaves. She is survived by Amanda Dziomba, Amanda's husband Daniel and little Evan, to whom she will always be "Mimi."

A Memorial Mass for Barbara will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3rd at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in West Islip. Following the Mass, family and friends will gather for Memorial visitation at the funeral home to honor and celebrate Barbara's life from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
