Margaret Mary Squires, a lifetime resident of Amity Harbor, Long Island, New York, died Sunday, February 28, 2010. Affectionately known as "Peggy" to family and friends, she retired from a lifelong love of education as a teacher with the Albany Avenue School in Lindenhurst. Peggy is predeceased by her father William James McJenkins, and her older sister, Wendy Alexandre. Surviving is her husband, Andrew Otto Squires; her mother, Ann McJenkins; her sister, Joann (Thomas William) Slavin; nieces and nephews Jessica and Katherine Alexandre and Melissa Ann and Thomas Wm. Slavin, Jr.; stepdaughters Mary Frances Keeney and Debra Pittenger; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan and Samantha Keeney. Family and friends gathered at the D'Andrea Bros. Funeral Home in Copiague, New York on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. On Thursday, March 4th, a funeral Mass was offered at St. Martin's R.C. Church in Amityville. Private cremation followed.
