Paul was born in Amityville, and grew up in Copiague. He attended Deauville Gardens Elementary and graduated from Copiague High School. Paul excelled in working with his hands, with a mind and aptitude to be able to fix anything. He became a master machinist, with the ability to fabricate what was needed to solve problems, and enjoyed working with ‘old school’ machinery. Paul worked for and retired from Globe Grinding in Copiague.
Paul was colorblind, yet this never slowed him down nor hindered him from success in all he strove for. He excelled in music, finding joy and passion in playing the drums, which he began playing as a young teen. He loved to hit the open mike clubs, joining many bands onstage. As well, he played with many young talented bands during his younger years. His siblings recall how much of a perfectionist he was, in everything he did; and his strong belief in always ‘doing the right thing’.
Paul is predeceased by his father, Ernie M. Knudsen, Sr.; and his brother, Ernie, Jr. Surviving is his mother, Sophie; his brother Karl (Theresa); his sister, Kristena Gluth (Herb); and sister-in-law, Cindy. He also leaves his nephews – Randy (Laura) Knudsen, Nicholas (Diana) Gluth and Daniel Gluth; and his great-niece, Anastasia Knudsen.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, November 8th, from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 p.m.; and again on Friday from 9:00 - 12:00 Noon. At 12 p.m., Fr. Demetrios of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of West Babylon will offer the Funeral Service. Cremation is private.
