Aston Samuel Bloomfield

28 May, 192910 January, 2020

Aston Samuel Bloomfield, loving husband and father, passed away at age 90, on Friday, January 10, 2020, in Coppell, Texas. Aston, son of Robert and Annetta Bloomfield, was born on May 28th 1929, in Kingston, Jamaica. He is survived by his wife Ivy, sons Raymond, Christopher (Wendy), Mark, and Nigel, and grandchildren Elaina, Matthew, and Colin. He was preceded in death by his infant son Robert, his brother Homer, and sister Dorothy. Aston was a graduate of the University of London, where he achieved numerous academic honors, awards, and distinctions in the field of accounting. Among his notable achievements was placing 3rd in the world (with distinction) in the Institute of Book-Keepers Examination (Fellows Stage), London England. He was a longstanding Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Aston and Ivy met while attending university, in London. After completing their education, they married and returned to Jamaica. After returning to Jamaica, Aston rejoined a large accounting firm in Kingston, eventually becoming Senior Partner. He also served as Council member, and Chairman of the Professional Practices Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica. Aston had a deep appreciation for art, and enjoyed collecting paintings and sculptures, from internationally renowned Jamaican artists. In addition to his love of art, he enjoyed reading, and had a passion for classical music. He also enjoyed fishing, bird watching, and was an avid hunter. As notable as his many academic honors and professional achievements were, they pale in comparison to his love and devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren! He is remembered as a loving and supportive husband and father, who always put his family first. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home (400 Freeport Pkwy, Coppell, TX 75019).
